AluK’s high performance 77 commercial window and door system has just been given a comprehensive update to ensure it not only complies with the 2022 updates to Part L of the Building Regs but is ready for the 2025 Future Homes standard as well.
The modern, minimal aesthetic of the 77 system and its slimline, square profile design make it ideal for new build settings, particularly multi-storey apartments. With a choice of open-in and open-out window profiles that suite with a fully rebated flush door, developers can use the 77 system to achieve a coherent overall look right across their building. The floating mullion open-in French casement option is especially useful for ensuring that Juliet balconies tie in with the rest of the façade.
The AluK 77 system easily meets the 1.2 W/m2K U-Value limit currently set for Part L compliance in new builds using standard, cost-effective 1.0 centre pane double glazing. If even lower U-Values are required, then it can also accommodate triple glazing to achieve as little as 0.8 Wm2K, which is the expected target in the 2025 Future Homes standard.
The system’s high performance extends beyond just the thermal efficiency, however. It has now been given new glazing foams and centre seals to enhance the wind and water resistance and it has passed the PAS24: 2016 security test to provide complete peace of mind to buyers.
Also part of the update are additional handle and hinge choices. AluK has added its Novae handle designs to the 77 system – available in black, white and silver to suit any interior finish and décor, and additional hinge options including face fixed, slimline barrel or fully concealed for the ultimate contemporary look. A new mid rail means doors can even now be specified with solid panels at the bottom if required in either single or double configurations.
