British Gypsum Reveals Its Gyproc® Firestopping Range: Clarity and Confidence for Specifiers ..

Firestopping is a fundamental aspect of building safety, helping to prevent the spread of fire, smoke, and hot gases through compartment walls and floors. While solutions have long existed, specifiers often face the challenge of sourcing products that are robustly tested, compliant, and available from a single supplier.

The Gyproc® Firestopping range addresses this need, offering a suite of rigorously tested products engineered to perform within British Gypsum systems, backed by the SpecSure® Systems 25 year* firestopping warranty for new build applications.

Why This Matters
The range of nine core products has been developed with architects, specifiers, contractors, and installers in mind, responding to the sector’s need for high-performance firestopping solutions that keep pace with evolving safety and compliance standards. Supported by robust test data and verified performance reports, the range helps specifiers maintain clarity and confidence throughout the design and delivery process.

Inside the Gyproc® Firestopping Range

The range includes solutions for a variety of on-site challenges, from sealing small gaps to managing complex penetrations:

  • Gyproc® Acrylic Fire SealantA fire-rated intumescent sealant, ideal for filling small gaps and joints in fire-rated walls, floors, including those created around building service penetrations.
  • Gyproc® Graphite Fire SealantA high expansion graphite sealant, engineered to preserve fire resistance where combustible service penetrations pass through compartment walls and floors. It expands under fire conditions to seal gaps left by combustible or low-melting-point materials.
  • Gyproc® Fire BattA high-density stone mineral wool board, coated with a water-based ablative coating designed to seal apertures in walls which can contain multiple services.
  • Gyproc® Fire Coating: An ablative coating which releases water vapour to cool down the surface, forming a char layer to slow down heat transfer. Used to seal exposed areas of batt, for the treatment of some penetration services and for linear joint seals.
  • Gyproc® Fire MortarA gypsum-based compound which, when mixed with water, forms either a trowel-applied paste or a pourable mortar, ideal for sealing around multiple service penetrations in floor and wall applications. As it cures, the mortar expands to create a secure, tight seal against the surrounding substrate.
  • Gyproc® Pipe CollarPipe closure devices designed to seal combustible pipes, cables and insulated metal pipework where they penetrate fire-rated walls and floors.
  • Gyproc® Pipe WrapA graphite-based reactive intumescent strip used to close any gaps formed by a combustible service or insulation. Supplied either pre-cut in a protective polyethene sleeve, or in roll form for on-site cutting. Suitable for the standard range of pipe diameters up to 400mm.
  • Gyproc® Putty PadA silicone-based mouldable putty designed to fit within metal and plastic electrical socket boxes.
  • Gyproc® Fire CordA fire-resistant putty for penetrations that have restricted space or a small annular gap.
