Caffé Nero has more than 825 coffee houses around the world and has won many awards for both its coffee making and its service. Its unique, elevated café in Coventry’s Lower Precinct shopping centre is known as The Rotunda.
When Newdigate Builders were hired for work on the building, part of their remit involved fitting stair nosings on the staircase which leads up to the coffee house. The stair nosings would have to be hardwearing and have good slip-resistance to minimise the risk of slips and falls. There would have to be an LRV difference of 30 points between the stair nosings and the concrete steps, so that each step could be clearly identified.
Newdigate Builders opted to use Quantum’s SF225R Stair Nosing profile, with yellow tread. This S-Range Slenderline profile is designed specifically for use on steps with slim or no floorcovering. Its double channel tread minimises the risk of slips and falls, while the ramped back reduces trip hazards.
