Architype specified Junckers solid hardwood flooring for two areas at the new Highgate Junior School. After winning a competition, the architectural firm designed impressive, high quality co-ed learning facilities in line with Passivhaus principles. Designed to achieve a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ standard, the H-shaped building is arranged around a central top-lit circulation space, which features 325m2 Junckers Wide Board Oak Classic finished in Ultramatt lacquer. Adjacent to the central hub of the new school is the Main Hall, used for assemblies and performances. Designed to be spatially and acoustically efficient, it features a 370m2 Junckers 22mm solid Maple multi-purpose floor fitted over New Era battens. Junckers solid wood floors carry the ‘Indoor Climate Certificate’ administered by the Danish Institute of Technology, making them the ideal choice for a school environment. The flooring contractor was V.A. Hutchison.
