ARC Building Solutions has unveiled its latest product innovation – the Retrofit Wall Plate Insulator (RWPI) – developed to tackle one of retrofit’s most pressing challenges: preventing heat loss and mould growth at the eaves.
The RWPI provides continuous insulation over the wall plate into the soffit, minimising thermal bridging and heat loss. It is manufactured from non-combustible glass mineral wool and has a built-in ventilation tray that preserves the 10,000mm² ventilation area as required for most cold lofts and to prevent condensation. It prevents damp and mould more effectively while supporting PAS 2035 compliance.
With around six million homes in England affected by damp or mould – and new legislation such as Awaab’s Law setting strict timelines for remediation – solutions like the RWPI help support compliance and resident wellbeing.
This new innovation complements ARC’s award-winning Retrofit Eaves Insulator (REI), launched in 2024, which addresses insulation and ventilation where access to the wall plate is limited. Together, the RWPI and REI ensure that virtually any cold loft detail can be retrofitted effectively, providing confidence that ventilation and thermal performance won’t be compromised.
Neil Weeks, Managing Director of ARC Building Solutions, explains:
“The eaves junction has always been a weak spot for insulation and ventilation. With the Retrofit Wall Plate Insulator now joining our Retrofit Eaves Insulator, ARC Building Solutions can provide a complete suite of solutions that make retrofit projects more effective and accessible – whatever the roof type.”
