Functionality that slots seamlessly into interior aesthetics is delivered with the latest evolution at Gilberts Blackpool.
The company’s new Jumbo Slot Linear Diffuser (JSL) optimises the blending of design with provision of essential building services through ceilings and walls.
Gilberts’ in-house R&D team has applied state-of-the-art physics principles, validated in the company’s in-house test laboratory. The result is an air supply diffuser that provides a shadowgap appearance with high airflow (between 20-250l//s/metre), with an unbroken visual appearance unique in the marketplace.
JSL is available in 30, 40, 50, 60 and 80mm widths, and 2000mm lengths as standard. The design allows for continuous runs of any length to be seamlessly fitted with an unbroken appearance whether flanged or plastered in. Because Gilberts manufactured entirely in-house, it can ensure the aesthetics and function follow the design requirements without any impact on airflow distribution.
With Gilberts’ state -of-the-art powder coating facility, JSL can be ordered in any RAL colour(subject to T’s & Cs), to blend into or contrast with its environment.
Once installed, the control vane can be adjusted to provide vertical or horizontal discharge, and varied in each diffuser length if needed. The JSL can provide supply air for all ventilation and air conditioning systems including fan coil and VAV.
“Calling it a jumbo slot linear diffuser is almost a misnomer,” laughs Gilberts’ Sales Director Ian Rogers. “It is jumbo in terms of its supply of fresh air, but it gives the semblance of a controlled space between planes rather than a slot!
“Regardless, good levels of ventilation are essential in any interior. In high-end residential, commercial or leisure developments there is a growing trend for such essentials to blend seamlessly into the overall design ethos, and the optimisation of shadowgaps, whether between horizontal and vertical planes, or two surfaces in the same plane. Our JSL is available with a flange or plater-in options for a total seamless look, so meets both criteria, an aesthetic and quality solution.”
Founded 55 years ago, the company is Britain’s leading independent air movement specialist, and is unique in its ability to develop components. Be it ‘mainstream’ or bespoke – entirely in-house, from initial design through tooling, production, testing and supply, at its 85,000 ft2 manufacturing facility. Its state of the art test centre, designed and built in-house, is one of the most technically advanced in the country.
Post COVID Lockdown, Gilberts has continued its reputation for innovation, and has already invested in new plant and processes, and re-started its product development, of which JSL is the first post-COVID release. Already this year it has launched additional REVIT designs for its BIM portfolio, a new smoke evacuation damper, a new slimline version of its core linear grille, and is working on a new and improved range of kitform louvres, to name but a few.
