Little Ilford, Eastbrook and Eastbury Schools all presented distinctive design challenges in terms of access, safety and flow around the building. Added to this was the ever-present pressure to meet with the required standards for a public sector project, which included the need to use BIM level 2 throughout the design and build process.
With these challenges, ASSA ABLOY UK Specification, a UK division of ASSA ABLOY, the global leader in door opening solutions and entrance systems provided a design-led service using sector specific solutions, derived from thorough research into the use of products and the flow of traffic in the specific education market. BIM objects, whole life costing and other solutions, were employed to tailor and adapt to the clients’ needs. The package delivered to the Newham Borough schools included timber doorsets, fully glazed screens and architectural ironmongery, as well as ASSA ABLOY’s innovative Aperio® wireless access control system.
