When specifying a fire curtain over and above a traditional form of fire compartment and smoke control e.g. a non-load bearing wall and fire door, ask yourself to what level of critical performance the traditional fire compartment performed to; then ask the fire curtain to perform to the same level. A combination of the following levels of critical performance can be supported by a fire curtain with smoke control: • Fire integrity (flame) • Radiance (heat) • Smoke control (smoke)
